Book Conference Events Kick Off in April

The Thirty-First Oxford Conference for the Book is only a month away! The full schedule is up now, so mark your calendars for times and locations of all of the fantastic sessions. This year’s conference is dedicated to Ann Abadie, director emerita of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, who died last summer and leaves a legacy of visionary leadership. At 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 there will be a dedication of the Dr. Ann Julian Abadie Pollinator Garden and Reception at the University Museum, located at University Avenue and 5th St.

Then at 6 p.m. April 2, the Oxford Conference for the Book Authors’ Party, hosted by the Friends of the Library, the Willie Morris Awards for Southern Writing, and the Oxford Conference for the Book, takes place at Memory House/John Faulkner’s House, located at 406 University Ave. on the University of Mississippi campus. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Sessions are set for Thursday, April 3 and Friday, April 4 and all panels are free and open to the public.

Beforehand, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, there is an  Oxford Conference for the Book Warm-Up Event at Off Square Books celebrating Attached to the Living World: A New Ecopoetry Anthology, with readings by coeditor and poet Ann Fisher-Wirth and Stacey Balkun, Kendall Dunkelberg, Al Favilla, Beth Ann Fennelly, Melissa Ginsburg, Maggie Graber, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, and Leona Sevick.
